Our story so far….

We are a small family run business based in Barnstaple, North Devon. We have a variety of items available. These include fabric. haberdashery, craft kits, patterns, handmade gifts and jewellery. We also hold ongoing sewing classes.

Our story starts back in 2011when we first got into sewing. We enjoyed it so much that we started to make so many items that we didn’t know what

to do with them all. This became bigger and bigger so we decided to join the local markets in Tiverton, South Molton and then Barnstaple.

These became popular and we started to build up regular customers. We then joined the craft centre in Lynton where we too gained regular customers.

The business was doing so well that we talked about pipe dreams of owning our own shop!!

In 2016 this dream became a reality and we got 7 Tuly Street in Barnstaple. The place was a shell and we had a month to pull everything together. During this time Sam was heavily pregnant and Lyn spent some time in Canada visiting family. With the support of family and friends we managed to pull it together.

We opened the doors to our new adventure on Saturday 31st September 2016 and haven’t looked back!

We started by concentrating on our handmade gifts and offered a small range of fabrics and haberdashery. Over time our fabric and haberdashery range grew to what is is today and it continues to grow. We started weekly sewing classes, enabling the local community a space to get together and create. These have grown in size and have enabled us to make so many more new friends.

We now offer weekday sewing sessions where people pay to attend every week and make something of their choosing with support from us. We also hold Saturday workshops. These offer a variety of crafting skills and are open to all. Places must be booked in advance and we tend to have a timetable at the beginning of the year (this is currently unavailable due to COVID-19.)

In recent weeks we have moved to a bigger store in Gammon Walk Barnstaple. Do come in and take a look if you are in the area!!

Supporting the local Community:

We have attended many local craft fairs that have been organised for both charity and business.

We enjoy becoming part of the community and making friends with other small business owners from the area.

We love to support local charities and do this by attending their organised events and providing raffle prices whilst we are there.

Charity Events.

To date we have supported local village fetes, Cancer research Relay for Life events, school fetes and Larger charity fairs. We have also organised our own charity craft fair to raise money for a local charity called ‘Everything Ellie’

North Devon Show

We have attended the craft tent at the North Devon Show where we had a wonderful day observing the ring beside us and also meeting more local people. The event was so well organised and everyone was so friendly. It was definitely a place to take the family!!

Newton Abbot Race Course

We were invited to attend the yearly ‘ladies day’ at the race course. It was great fun and there was a real buzz in the crowd.

Ginger Monkey Events

We are a great supporter of the Ginger Monkey events that take place in both Braunton and Bideford. We love to attend the Christmas Markets as the atmosphere and the music is just wonderful. As the night sets in stall light up to display their goods and everyone is there to have a lovely time.
